Does anyone know the failure rate of the original ipad mini?

I've had four ipad minis fail in eight months. Apple support replaces them with out any problems, but they never get back to you with the reason for the failure. We are a retired couple and never take the iPads out of the house, and never abuse them in any way, but for some reason they just fail to turn on. Anyone else having problems with their mini iPads?

Yes Bob, we do charge the iPads, actually every time they have failed is while they are charging. The first three times they failed they simply would not turn, but this last case the ipad was very hot and continued to generate heat for an hour after it was unplugged. As for resetting the ipad, I've done the two-button two-step so many times my fingers are worn out.

We are using the original power block and cable.

Model A1265

Adaptor 1X31431A2C8QZ

5 V. 1 A

Now that the fourth ipad has died Apple has decided to replace the cable and the ipad.

I can't complain about customer support, they do a great job, but they don't seem to be able to find out what was wrong with the previous three I sent back. I would think that would be a good starting point to diagnose my problem.

We have had the exact same issue. Just this morning, iPad mini #3 failed. But this time, I checked the receipt and we are 1 month over the 1 year standard apple warrantee. Not sure if they will replace this one, and to be fair, not even sure if I want another iPad mini.

Essentially happens like this, battery is low, requires charging (nowhere near 0%) so we plug it in to the charger it came with. In the morning, it is unresponsive. I try to to the reset (holding power and main button down)- nothing.

I have owned an abundance of apple products, 3 generations of iPhone, iPod, and a iPad 2. 6 other devices that all still work, without issue that are all older than this iPad mini.

What are my chances apple with give me a refund?

That's a question for Apple. This is a user to user forum, so no one here can give you any sort of real answer when it pertains to refunds.

I'd say just go in with a pleasant attitude and make it easy for them to be nice and hope for the best. (generally, people are more likely to go the extra bit for those that are nice rather than those that come in grumpy)
