changing or customizing trash icon
i can not discover how to change the trash empty and the trash full icons to icons that i have created or downloaded

You can try the demo via the link, or purchase it online and in most apple stores.
I'm unaware of any free programs, but google search "iconfactory" and you will learn a whole lot about icons and what you can do with them.
