MacBook Pro
Mac Pro doesn't have Blu-ray drive.
Mac Pro doesn't support Blu-ray playback, which means you need a blu-ray player and an external blu-ray drive. If you want to buy Mac Pro, then buy it. It's not wise to suit a computer to a blu-ray player, for basically these third-party programs are not expensive, and they are more or less the same, just with different brands.
Good idea. Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player could support Mac Pro . And you need to buy a Blu-ray drive and a
registration code. The registration code only could use once.
Yes. you can attach a Blu Ray drive. Through USB or Firewire. Now sure what you have. Mine is connected through USB to my Mac Pro 1,1
I haven't had any trouble with it. It just registers as another Drive in the Finder Window.
I use Final Cut Studios DVD Maker program and it has the capabilities to make Blu Rays disc (however good luck finding those anymore).
It also plays blu rays on my computer. It's not that Apple doesn't support Blu ray drives. They just don't sell them as part of the system anymore.
You can attach as many external drives as you want.
So the short answer is, Yes.
It's not that Apple doesn't support Blu ray drives. They just don't sell them as part of the system anymore.
Apple has NEVER supported playing or Reading of Blu-Ray discs, ever. You WILL need third-party software to make it go.
This is and always has been a licensing issue. Steve Jobs used to respond something like, "Blu-Ray licensing is a world of hurt."
It may be third party software, I don't know.
But mine works with my system fine.
The point is: you need to be sure you are purchasing Blu-Ray software as well as a drive. Some Vendors choose to bundle the software, but others do not.
-- Buyer beware --
I'm buying a trash can Mac Pro and I want an external Blu Ray burner, mainly for burning CD/DVD and backing up files (not media) to Blu-Ray disk.
From what people are saying
Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player will play disks,
or 'Final Cut Studios DVD Maker program//has the capabilities to make and play Blu Rays disc'
What external Blu-Ray burner models are people using. I have seen Numac, anyone using this.
I'm looking for the most straight forward option. Can I just buy any BR burner and plug and play? What other external Blu-ray burners are people using
on the new Mac Pro?
Thanks in advance,
N
I just purchased an LG BE14NU40 external Blu-ray burner. It was the only USB 3.0 burner I could find at the big box store.
