How can I make the Office toolbars smaller?

Hi. I'm a recent convert to OSX (yes, I know. it's pretty pathetic that I was still working under OS9 until this week...). I just installed my spanking new Office 2004, and all is well except that the toolbars are enormous on screen! I'm a rather heavy-duty user of many of Word's advanced features (I'm a technical writer) so I have customized my toolbars with quite a few buttons, but they still used to fit across just two rows on screen, in my previous setup (Office 98 in OS 9.2.2).

Now, their right edges fall right off the screen. Actually, I had to change my monitor resolution just to be able to grab the their resizing handle (bottom-right corner of each toolbar) so I could make them narrower, each over two rows. Now, my toolbars take almost half of my screen...

Is there a way to reduce the size of the toolbars on screen?

This from Word Help:

• To move a toolbar, point to the move handle Left edge of a docked toolbar on the toolbar (don't point to one of the buttons on the move handle), and then drag the toolbar to the location you want.
• To resize a toolbar, point to the bottom right-hand corner of the toolbar , and then drag the corner to the size you want.

Thanks, but I was aware of these functions; neither of these resizes the icons in the toolbars; the first "undocks" the toolbar and moves it around, while the second rearranges the icons (e.g. over more rows as you drag the right-hand corner to the left).

A friend found mention that there should be an "options" tab in the "Customize Toolbars/Menus" dialog box, but neither his computer nor mine seem to have that.
