Please tell us which printer model?

    And which steps you followed?

The people you are talking to here are fellow users who are trying to help you - we need more info.

(Airprint would not be my first choice in your situation - maybe I don't understand what you want to do.)

What happens when you try to print? Have you deleted and re-added the printer? Tried reinstalling the drivers? Does it also fail from other apps?

    Try resetting the printing system.

    Try:

    1. uninstall all printer manufacturer apps and "utilities"
    2. go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Print
    3. control-click on your printer in the column on the left
    4. select "Reset Printing System..." and "reset" in the dialog that follows
    5. do a factory reset on your printer. You'll have to consult the printer manual for how.
    6. if you connect to your printer via wifi:
      1. power down everything: modem, router, computer, and printer
      2. power up each item in turn in the same order: modem, router, computer, and printer. Let each power up completely before moving on to the next
      3. enter your wifi password in your printer so it can connect to the network
    7. go back to printers & scanners and it should see your printer and download a driver for it from Apple
    8. see if it works.
    9. If it doesn't work, try going to the printer manufacturer's website and see if they have updated software.
    10. If that doesn't work, try going to gutenprint Gutenprint for Mac OS X  and see if there is an alternate driver for your printer.
