Private Folder Conversion

I shot a wedding on a Sony FS-700. I unerstand that this has been an issue with Mountain Lion for a while now. I am editing in Final Cut X and would like to import these files from my Private folder but they are not showing up. I would like to convert them into MOV files. Is this possible and if so how do I go about doing it?
