Maxent plasma screen to use as a monitor for my MacBook Pro

I have a 48 inch Maxent plasma screen that I tried to use as a monitor for my MacBook Pro. I tried to go DVI from the maxent to another DVI into a mini display port that then pops into my laptop via HDMI. No luck. Can someone help me here. Please advise.
