landscape mode

Recently when playing music on my ipod 5, it gets stuck in landscape mode and I am unable to access my playlists or music controls. Cannot get it out of landscape mode, even exiting music and then going back doesnt fix this. Is there a way to get it to stop going into landscape mode? I don't use it and it is getting very annoying!
