Migration assistant says I cannot transfer from time machine to imac with same user name

Apple had repaired my hard drive and I attempted to restore what I had from the Time Machine. It says I cannot have the same user name and must come up with a new one. How do I keep my user name? I am worried it will throw off all of my saved data under my current user name if I have to create a new one. Any advise is much appreciated!
