Q: Streaming movies from Mac to TV

Hi

I set up the Apple TV. all works fine with Itunes

I started streaming a movie from my Macbook Pro to the Apple TV, but 5 min in it keeps cutting out and and return to the "Home" screen on Apple TV.

Totally frustrating.

Not sure why?

Anyone have the same problem?

Not a network issue.
The connection is fine with any other program / itunes streaming.

Actually it very much is a network issue.
Connect the ATV via ethernet, the problem will go away.

that is how it is se up.

I can run any itunes movie / music with no problem, but when i stream a movie from an external hard drive via my macbook it "resets" after 5 min.
this problem doesn't happen with other services.

movie runs 100% fine when watched on the macbook only

Does the issue occur when streaming content that is physically on the computer? The issue, based on the information provided, is likely the result of a slow external drive or a bottleneck in the connection between the external drive and the computer.
