Is the display screen broken or just black?

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

Frozen or unresponsive iPad

Resolve these most common issues:

• Display remains black or blank

• Touch screen not responding

• Application unexpectedly closes or freezes

Black or Blank Screen on iPad or iPhone

Apple's Limited Warranty http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/ for iPad excludes coverage for damage resulting from accident, disassembly, unauthorized service and unauthorized modifications.

The warranty will apply to the country of purchase. And if there is a problem needing repair you have to return it to the country of purchase.

Out-of-Warranty Service

If you own an iPad that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will replace (Apple doesn't repair) your iPad with an iPad that is new or equivalent to new in both performance and reliability for the Out-of-Warranty Service fee listed below. (The replacement will most likely be a refurbished iPad in a brown box, however, it has a new screen, back and battery.)

iPad model

Out-of-Warranty Service Fee

iPad mini

$219

iPad 3rd, 4th, Air

$299

iPad 2, iPad

$249

A $6.95 shipping fee will be added if service is arranged through Apple and requires shipping. All fees are in US dollars and are subject to local tax.

Certain damage is ineligible for out-of-warranty service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications. However, an iPad that has failed due to contact with liquid may be eligible for out-of-warranty service. See http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipad

my ipad mini 2 lcd is broken & with black screen. I bought it for Php20K++ last Dec. 2014 and the current price is around Php15k. I called the service provider here in Manila, and they said Apple doesnt repair broken lcd, it is for unit replacement so i have to trade in or surrender my ipad and pay Php15k (the actual current price)??? and he even suggested that I just buy a new unit if I dont want to return my old ipad. So I called another service provider (Power Mac) and the replacement fee is the same (just like buying new unit) and she even said because I could not understand the logic of having my ipad replaced/ serviced. that i bettter buy A NEW IPAD becuase it comes with warranty instead of having it serviced/ complete replacement which has no warranty. --- again i just want my ipad repaired and or have it replaced but spending the same amount for buying a replacement unit is illogical.

What will i do with my old unit? a waste product. Sorry If I am ranting. I just don't get it
