Turtle Beach sound very messed up and mic not going through headsets

Although this very well may be a headphone problem, it was working fine before.

Well, my turtle beach mic/headset randomly stopped working when I switiched the audio from Turtle beach to Internal Speakers. When I changed it back, no sound if coming from the mic through the headsets, although my computer does recognise that sound is coming from the mic, I can't hear it. And the sound that is coming from the computer to my headpones is very skewed and almost sounds like an unhealthy mixture of alvin and the chipmunks and fast forwarded audio. Typing this out, it seems like more of a headphones promlem. Nonetheless, the headphones are turtle beack Ear Force Foxtrot MW3 editions. Any help?
