where does archived mail go on an iPad?
There is an option to archive mail. But there is no 'archive' mailbox. So where does the archived mail go? How do you retrieve it?
iPad Air Wi-Fi, iOS 7.0.4

No. In iOS 7 and OS10.9 Apple introduced an Archive feature for all mail accounts. You can set it so mail will be archived instead of trashed. On the laptop there is an Archive mailbox. And the iPad, no Archive mailbox.

That is my problem - there is no Archive folder on the iPad (but there is on the laptop). Hence my question.
Archive mail is only an option for email received through gmail accounts. To retrieve archived messages, click on "gmail" under accounts on the left side of the mail app, then click on "all mail". The "all mail" folder has all gmail messages, including archived messages.
You are right, you can now send mail to an archived folder for all mail accounts, not just gmail, but the solution is the same. Go to the account folder for the desired email account and there should be an archived folder. Note the account folders are on the bottom of the left side panel (gmail, iCloud, yahoo, etc). I just confirmed this myself.
HI
in the settings menu then specific mail account advanced above where it gives you the option to tick send discarded message to archive folder there is another box above that about behaviour ....my iPad was set to send archive mail to the "all mail" folder.you have to change this to the archive folder to then see that folder.
this should do it!
Oh I see. Then you have to set your ipad mail to send discarded messages to archive folder in order to see the archive folder.
Settings, mail, "specific account", advanced, send discarded messages to archive folder.
Then you should be able to see the archive folder after entering the specific account on the bottom of the left panel.
Are your sure you are looking under the accounts tab? And not the regular tab? I can only see the archive folder when I click on the bottom part of the mailbox menu with the actual icon images of yahoo, gmail, etc.
If so, I am out of ideas. Sorry.
It is set to archive. But no archive folder.
Thanks a whole lot!!!
