how can i print to a 11x17 pdf?

Ooph - don't install more software -- this is all built into the OS's print subsytem for years and years now

In Safari, with the page to print loaded:

1. File -> Print...
2. Click "Show Details"
3. Under the Paper Size pulldown, choose Manage Custom Sizes...
4. Click the + to make a new size
5. Double click on Untitled to rename it to 'Tabloid', or whatever
6. Click Ok once you've defined width & height as you wish
7. Make sure the Paper Size pulldown has your tabloid
8. Under the PDF pulldown in the Print menu, choose "Save as PDF..."
