Skinny email text

Some of the email messages I receive have a line length of about twelve characters, requiring me to scroll down several pages to read a relative short message. These are not forced line endings. If I copy and paste the text into a word-processing application, the lines are normal. Any ideas? If I remember correctly, the messages with this problem are usually ones that have been forwarded (jokes, etc.) rather than original messages.

Mail does wrap text, for some reason, and this is a real problem. When I am sending a long URL to someone, it breaks the URL into two or three lines, and they cannot then click on it and go to the URL. Instead, they must use the tedious process of cuttting and pasting each line of the URL into the browser address line.

Is there any way for Mail to not wrap text??? I've looked through the Help directory, the users forum and, of course, Mail Preferences and not found an answer.

The problem you're having isn't wrapping, per se, it's a difference between the way text is wrapped on the Mac (Mail and Entourage, for sure) and Windows (any Outlook related program, most Webmail applications, etc.). Those links will be clickable on a Mac. Some or all of the wrapping is likely to be taking place at the receiving end, anyway.

To get them clickable even if you send them to a Windows user, try somehting like

TinyURL

Good luck
