Help. My iPhone deleted all my contacts without warning

Help!!! My iPhone deleted all my contacts without any warning or action from me. I noticed a few numbers were not displaying with the contact name so switched the phone off and on to see if that would clear things. It didn't - it has deleted every contact that was on my phone.

I took it to my local Apple store who told this "can happen sometimes" and said "it was likely due to an error with a 3rd party application". When I explained that it had just happened and that I had not added any new apps I was told "yeah but sometimes this can just happen". How the **** can one of the worlds most popular smart phone just deleted contacts at will and Apple seem to have no interest in why this is happening?

Come Apple, I need your help.

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.4

Not sure how that happened since I've never experienced the same with any of my various iPhones beginning with the original.

Although contacts are included with your iPhone's backup, contacts are designed to be synced with a supported address book app on your computer and/or there are a number of free email accounts that support over the air syncing for contacts and other data such as with an Apple iCloud account, Gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail.

Where did your contacts originate with the iPhone? Were all contacts manually entered one by one, imported from a SIM card used with another cell phone, or transferred to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process?

Hi Allan,

I had the exact same problem but the online support team managed to get everything resolved. In the end it was just a case of restoring the last backup via iTune or iCloud.

Hope you get it resolved

Honestly I really don´t care about how to recover the lost data, thats kinda of easy. I just want a answer why this happens? How to prevent this to happen? I have read every thread about this issue but no one, including people from Apple has showed a solution or even a clear answer about it. Im just tired of this crap happening every other week, I need and want this to stop.
