how to delete (thousands of) downloaded songs from ipad?

I have thousands of songs stored locally on my 64GB iPad that have been synced from my music library in iCloud. I want to remove them all and free up the space on the iPad for a movie. How? Do I have to swipe and delete each song individually? Surely there's a better way! Thanks
