Can I have two Thunderbolt monitors connected to my MacBook Pro?

I currently have one Thunberbolt monitor attached to my MacBook Pro. I am looking to add a second monitor but want to make sure a second Thunderbolt would be a good solution if I was looking to have two big monitors as well as my laptop screen working at the same time. I don't need them to mirror but want to show more information across all the monitors.

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

Hello there, GCHill00.

The following Knowledge Base article goes over your options for using multiple displays with your MacBook Pro:

OS X: How to use multiple displays with your Mac in Mountain Lion and earlier

If you've upgraded your OS X to Mavericks, then this article is more appropriate:

OS X: Using multiple displays in Mavericks
