Did you get the right one? MacBook Air Flash Storage Firmware Update 1.1. It's for a Mid-2012 model. Is that the model you have? You meet the requirements as far as OS X version - 10.7.5 or later.

10.8.2 is Mountain Lion, not Snow Leopard. Are you sure of what is installed? You can try downloading the updater from the link provided above.
Did App Store refuse to let you download the update or just tell you what would be required to install it?

OK. Now, you say you got this alert through App Store when trying to download Mavericks or after you downloaded it and were trying to install it? Which is the correct case?
The error you are getting may sometimes occur when the computer has already been updated, but I don't know why you would be getting this message. I can only suggest that you take it in for service to find out why this is happening.
