iMovie running very slowly

Hello,

I am running iMovie 11 on a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Late 2009 iMac, with Lion 10.7.5 installed. I have 4G of ram and iMovie has working fine for a long time. My most recent project has had me tranfer about 150 GB worth of HD movies (all in one event) and has never run slow or frozen.

Yesterday I moved the remaining 20GB of movies into a new event. And deleted the other clips I didn't need (about 142 GB). When I went to work with the 20 GB of movie iMovie instanly became slower and froze way more often. And I have no idea why.

Really need help,

- Thanks

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Hi

Your specific situation - No I can not imagine.

BUT - in General - see if anything here helps

TO GET IT TO WORK SLIGHTLY FASTER

Minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-Up hard disk for SD-Video Quality and about 4 - 5 times more - if it is a HD-Project.

No other programs running in BackGround e.g. Energy-Saver

Don’t let HD spin down or be turned off (in Energy-Save)

Do not have more external devices connected as is of urgent need. Move hard disks that are not to be used to Trash - Or to be disconnected/turned off

Goto Spotlight and set the rest of them under Integrity (not to be scanned)

Set screen-saver to a folder without any photo
First - then make an active corner (up right for me) and set pointer to this
Secondly - turns on screen saver
Then - to show that it has nothing to show

No File Vault on - Important

NO - TimeMachine - during iMovie/iDVD work either ! IMPORTANT

Lot's of icons on DeskTop/Finder also slows down the Mac noticeably

if a project is in a real hurry

First - Then Start a new User-Account and

Then - log into this and iMovie get's faster too

And let Mac run on Mains - not just on battery
