Q: My Hard Disk Crashed. -Gone

It is XP.  I reinstalled the OS OK, but I'd need to install a new and larger gard disk and reinstall windows oagain.  -Too much.  I also have only OEM CDs.  I know XP better than most humans and that is why I don;t want to work on it night and day for a few weeks.  Re-imaging a new disk and machine is not easy.

SOO, I am getting a new PC.  How do I reinstate my HUGE iTunes library (188GB) and relationship with Apple's iTunes store?  How do I reinstate my iTunes store relationship?

I have my library backed up from about 20 days hence -but I will lose a lot of work, unless it is possinle to restire from your iPod.  I have a 160 gig Classic.  If it was only a 500 gog "Classic" i'd be able to get half my music on it in reasonable hi-fi.  (320 kbps, m4a, VBR).

thiscannot be a new problem -in fact it must be an old story.

Can I restore 100% from my iPod?  Or is it better to use my iTunes BU library with the ITL file? I'd rather take it from my iPod as I did a LOT of wirk in those 3-4 weeks.  I was about to start my BU after I synched my iPod, but I ran a a registry check first and then the disk crashed -bad sector in the boot record.

How do I cancel my old machine with Apple?  (I once had 3 machines registered -all of them in a trash dump).  I had to call Apple REPEATEDLY and work my way up the the chain of command until I was having dinner with Steve Jobs (RIP).  I'd rather it was simpler this time.

Thanks for all those with the answers!
