Issue with updating my iTunes to be compatible with iPhone.

I just updated my iPhone 4 to the latest update. Now when I plug it into my computer, a window pops up that I must update my iTunes in order for my iPhone to be compatible. I've updated my iTunes 3 times now and this message still appears. Any help??

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
