Why can't I airplay my HD movie? (HDCP)

I downloaded Hugo HD (iTunes 12 days of gifts) on my Macbook Pro and it won't let me airplay to my apple tv. I can airplay from itunes normally. The airplay symbol will stay up until I start playing Hugo and then it disappears. I've tried mirroring and dragging my itunes screen to my apple tv and it displays "This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)" error message. Why can't I play my HD movie on my apple tv? What's the deal?

Apple TV, iOS 7.0.4

Note: Depending on your computer's hardware limitations, you may be unable to purchase, rent, or view HD content from the iTunes Store. If you are trying to view HD video on an external display, the display must have a digital connection (DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI) and support HDCP.
