Problem with Google Chrome

I have a mac book pro 15 "Core i7 8GB RAM 2.ghz. Using Snow Leopard. Google Chrome browser crashes entire OS X. Anyone else with this problem.

Realized only with Chrome crashed, was already preparing to format the drive.

What is the solution?

Did you upgrade to Maveriks but do not have a credit card to complete the registration on the Apple ID, is there another way to update?
