how do i use an AMR file which was messaged to me as a ringtone?
can anyone help me with this? i was thinking it should be easy.......

You cannot save a ringtone or music file that was sent as an SMS.

is there a way to convert it to a file that can be used?
Not from a SMS. You can try to forward that SMS to your comtpuer via an email, save the file there and then add it to your iTunes.
