If you're speaking in regards to your iPad Mini and not the Mac Mini computer, the following Knowledge Base article provides some great pointers for helping resolve your issue:

Particularly the steps under "Additional Information":
When performing Step 2 close all of the applications that are running. Once you've completed the steps, attempt the sync again.
