Can I use ENTROPAY to purchase off the iTunes USA store?

Hey guys.

I live in Australia. My main problem, as it always has been, is that Australia recieves little to no service when it comes to the internet. There are soo many iTunes shows, movies and apps that are simply not available in Australia. For the past couple days I've been researching how to purchase things off the US store and I came across Entropay. I was just wondering if anyone knows of Entropay working with the US itunes store, or of any similar solutions?

Kind Regards.

That is incorrect. If you have a valid US method of payment and your apple account is set to the US you can buy off the US store. If you were travelling, let's say you are in Paris, you can buy an app, music, movie, ibook with your account even if your IP is set somewhere else.

Entopay however is not accepted. A lot of people get an iTunes or App Store gift card and use that credit to buy in the US store. However your apple ID profile info needs to be set to use the US store.

No, this is inocrrect.

From iTunes store - Terms of Service

"The iTunes Service is available to you only in the United States, its territories, and possessions. You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Service from outside these locations. Apple may use technologies to verify your compliance."

Pretty sure Paris is not a U.S. territory or possession.

And just to finally confirm to all of you commenting various theories:

-I have set up an ALT iTunes account

-I have purchased iTunes gift cards from an online US website

-I have opted to not use Entropay

-Everything works well

-My account has been up for 1 month, I back up my iTunes library on an external HDD

-Even if my account is shut down, I still have access to my backed up content

-Content producers and Apple get their share of profit

Everyone is happy.

So I have been trying to use an EntroPay virtual credit card for my Apple iTunes account but would not accept it. I contacted Apple and finally got the following reply stating that I can buy a gift card with it but it won't work directly with the itunes account.

" In reviewing the challenge that is occurring for you with the card you are using I need to advise that the prepaid cards, while they sometimes work, they do not always work as they do not bill properly like a credit card and will not allow pre-authorization charges and other types of charges to be processed and with this, cannot be verified and used on iTunes.

Apple would be happy to accept the card and allow it but the card itself will not allow this as it won't allow the proper billing. The great news is you can log into apple.com/store and purchase a iTunes gift card with a prepaid card and put it on you're account and use the funds that way. Or you can use another type of billing method."

I had a recent experience of this myself with Entropay. But first let's get some facts right.

  • iTunes store does not check the IP used for logging in.
  • iTunes store (along with several others like Amazon) checks the issuing country for the payment method one is using

For example if you have a US credit card you can very well transact in iTunes from anywhere in the world. For example I have used my US credit card to transact on iTunes US store from India. Once the issuing country of the card is identified iTunes store is automatically switched to that country.

However, when my US credit card expired I registered myself on Entropay and a virtual prepaid Card was issued. While I doing the transaction on iTunes store I came to know that Entropay cards are issued from Malta. Hence cannot be used to buy items from US store. One can very well log in to Maltese store using the card. The billing information should have Malta as a country though.

Hope this explains.

I don't know. If you have to authorize any equipment in order to transfer or play certain content and the account is blocked it might just be dead data bits.

They aren't using DRM for music anymore but it is still there for video.

One thing is what it is possible to do and another very different is what you have agreed not to do when accepting the Terms of Service from iTunes.

And you also see a lot of people speeding on the road except this would be more like having your car taken away if you were caught. It's up to you.
