Q: Unlocking an iPhone 5

Can it really take up to 15 days to get my iPhone 5 unlocked? I've cancelled my old sim with Vodafone and can't use the new one so have no phone!

iPhone 5, iOS 7

Short answer, yes it can take up to 15 days to unlock your iPhone 5.

Some wireless companies have taken 30 days or longer to unlock a phone.

If your iPhone was originally locked to Vodaphone, only Vodaphone can unlock it.

There is nothing either Apple or your fellow users in this forum can do to speed up

the process. Why not get a pay as you go sim with Vodaphone (if available) until the

iPhone is unlocked? At least you would be able to make/receive calls.

Don't forget that it is holiday time in many countries with less than normal number

of support personnel working and so things do not get done as fast. Plus support

is also overwhelmed with activations of all the new holiday gifts.
