What is status -5997?

My MobileSync stopped working. When I look at the last sync date its from 12/17/13 even though I receive no direct error or conflict messages when I try a manual sync. I looked in my Console log and found the following;

I've tried searching the Internet for a "status -5997" but found nothing. Other accounts on the same machine are working fine. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

No, never. There is only one account that logs in to the server and it is a local administrator. I have initied a screen sharing instance on the server with a network account but that shouldn't cause any issues should it? At least it hasn't in the past.

Per your first link I've rebooted both the server and the client but that did not help. From your second link I've tried to see what users are logged in;

When I look at the connected users on the AFP server I can see that the user is logged off.

but I couldn't find how or where to go to see who is logged in. Finally as mentioned the third link didn't solve my problem.

From the server I'd like to be able to see who is logged in and then manually log them out if that is possible but I don't know how to do it. I think there might have been a corrupted sync previously and for some reason hings aren't resetting and the server thinks the process is still open or continuing. (Not sure if that is the correct terminology.) Is there an easy way of doing this?

I am storing the home folders on a Drobo. Not doubting your experience, and this may be rhetorical, I have to ask how is one expected to use Mobile Home folders on a Mac Mini? The thing only came with two 500GB hard drives. I thought it was expected an external volume would be required for services such as this. Otherwise there really isn't a modern Mac sold with enough built-in storage to support multiple users.

I can certainly change my setup and move the Home folders to the Mini but what is the proper procedure? Can I;

1. Create a share on the Mini. Designate it as use for home folders.

2. Copy the current home folders to the share.

3. Redirect each accounts home folder to the new location.

Does this make sense or is there some other special things I need to do?

They're replaceable. Look for instructions on ifixit.com or macsales.com.

Pretty much what you wrote. The home folders should be in the Users folder, just as with a local account.

The less you deviate from the default setup, the less the chance that whole OD house of cards will collapse on your head.

I tried copying but get a bunch of these messages;

The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8062).

The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items.

It looks like everything copied over but I can't confirm that it did. Do you know if I can I rebuild the network home folder in the location you mentioned from the the client machine via a mobile sync?

Ok, I made it a little farther. I moved the home folders and now when I sync a status window pops open for just a second then disappears. This is the current log;
