skipping tracks when importing from audio cd

is there a way to skip a track once itunes has tried and failed to import it? for example, i can import the first eight tracks, then it hangs up on the ninth of ten tracks. is there a "skip importing this track" feature? i hate having to force quit the application and reimport all those tracks. i suspect it is because of scratched cd's, but should i not be able to import those that are not scratched, skip those that are scratched, eject and fix the cd and then reimport only those i fixed?

new macbook, os x 10.4.7, itunes 6.0.5 (recently updated). i searched the threads and have not found an answer.

thanks for all answers, as this is frustrating,

You can uncheck the boxes next to any tunes on the CD you don't want imported. The first 8 tracks should be ok since they were imported already, so if you have to force quit due to a hang up on track 9, when you restart iTunes, uncheck all tracks except #10 on the CD and hit import again. Easy way to do this is select all, right click and use the uncheck all menu choice, then go back and recheck track 10.

iTunes won't let you gracefully abort a rip. Your options would include doing as the other poster has suggested, or using another program to rip your CDs. Max is probably the best program for digital audio extraction for the Mac, and it allows you to skip troublesome tracks, quit gracefully, etc. If you use the paranoia ripper, it will likely do a very good job at reading the scratched disc and producing good files.
