Hello. The ATV goes to a VS-HD31 Switcher to the Denon AVR 687 via an HDMI cable. Also has an optical audio cable the same way.
I'm trying every setting on the receiver, but there is still no sound from the avr speakers. Only sound from the TV.
please tell me about this switcher, I assume it fits between the Apple TV and the receiver.
Yes exactly. I have to switcher to give me extra HDMI ports because the amount of ports in the receiver is limited. I know it works because I had Playstation 3 hooked up the same way and it worked. I replaced the PS3 with Apple TV now.
OK. Some switches cause problems, try it without to eliminate it as a problem.
Also why are you using HDMI and optical, I. Would have thought HDMI was enough.
Are you sure you have mapped the correct input to output on your receiver.
I tried with just the HDMI first and there was no sound in the receiver. Same direct to the receiver. Mapped correctly, just checked. It's also the same way it was mapped when it was connected to the PS3. I'm lost at this point. Thanks again.
Do you get audio from the TV if you connect it directly to the Apple TV via HDMI.
