itunes 11.1.3.8 crashes when subscribing to podcast

Using iTunes 11.1.3.8 on a Win7(64) machine. It's worked fine until I recently tried to manually subscribe to a podcast (File>>subscribe to podcast>>enter URL). When I do this, iTunes freezes up (shows as "not responding" in Task Manager), until I force it to shut down. When I re-start it, it works fine, but the podcast I tried to subscribe to isn't there. Tried several times and nothing seems to work.

Ideas?
