So I recently updated to OS X mavericks 10.9.1...however I really just need 10.7.5 so that I can use AVID media composer as it is not compatible with the highest OS X. Can I downgrade to 10.7.5 somehow?

I need to use Avid Media Composer but apparently it's not compatable with the latest OS X mavericks 10.9.1....I didn't know that before I upgraded to 10.9.1 though. And for some reason my computer wouldn't let me upgrade to 10.7.5 unless I had 10.7, which I also couldn't get???(I was 10.6.8)

Basically I'm wondering if I can downgrade to 10.7.5 somehow, and how do I do it? I suck at computer stuff...help!?

The simplest way would be to restore from the backup you made prior to upgrading.

If you don't have one, create one. A clone would likely be the easiest.

Once you have all of your data backed up and know you can access it, you'll have to erase your hard drive and then reinstall whatever OS you had previously.

If it was Snow Leopard (10.6), then reinstall from the DVD.

If it was Lion or Mountain Lion, then boot up holding down cmd-opt-r. That will boot into Internet Recovery and it will install the original shipping OS: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4718
