Once you have typed it in if it is incorrect Apple will tell you.
Dear Ferd II,
Your answers are always helpful, so I thought I'd ask you directly: all events in the month of October for every year ever since I started using iCal have vanished from iCal in my computer (I still have them on my iPod and am not syncing Calendars since I noticed this). Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks,
Joseli
Joseli,
Post your question in the iCal: Applications: Apple Support Communities Forum. It will get more attention than iPod Touch Forum.
Off hand, I am not able to answer your question without knowing your version of OS X, iOS, and iTunes. Be sure to include that information when posting your question in the iCal Forum.
Dear Ferd,
I have followed your advice and posted my question to the iCal support community; however, I still haven't gotten any help. To answer your original question: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), iTunes 11.4 (18) / iPod iOS 6.1.6
I followed the instructions on one posting directed to someone else and it fixed the original problem, but created a new one... Here's the string in chronological order:
3 months ago: Although all my appointments show correctly for all 12 months of the year on my iPod, in iCal (MacBook Pro) the month of October for every year, past and future, is blank (and sometimes doesn't even show--I go from September directly to November on any given year). I'm still using Snow Leopard because of all the horror stories I've heard about Lion and now worse about Maverick. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
2 weeks ago: I followed the instructions pasted below and it fixed my "disappearing October" problem; however, every time I open iCal now, it presents me with hundreds of conflicts and I have resolved them so many times I almost know them by heart. Even after I resolve them, I keep getting the Conflict window. And worse: my iPod, which was never more than a third full is now full beyond capacity and won't sync using iTunes. Please, help!
Here's the advice from MadisonP (posted Aug 27, 2010) that I followed:
Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Sounds like you have a bad cache in iCal or a damaged iCal database. Are you running TimeMachine or making backups? Its a very good idea for any computer user: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1553
First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test.
If you information is still not there you can restore it from a backup. If you have no backup (and the information is not on an iPhone / iPod / iPad or MobileMe) then your best bet would be a data recovery company. Hope that helps.
1 week ago: Dear BigMacUser,
I have a similar issue. I'm syncing an IPod Touch with a MacBook Pro (10.6.8) and out of the blue one day I get hundreds of conflicts. I followed the instructions on several Apple and community pages (resetting sync history, deleting files in the Cache folder, etc.) and while the sync works, since this happened my iPod has become filled to capacity (it was about 1/3 full before this happened). So now several functions are compromised and I'm betting what's filling it is a bunch of duplicate of junk calendar entries...
If you have any tips, please, let me know. Thanks, Joeli
Hope you can help me. Thanks,
Joseli

Joeli,
Based on your description, it might be helpful if you tried "Resetting Sync Services."
It sounds to me like you are experiencing your own horror story using your setup. 😕 FWIW, I have not experienced any of the "horror stories" regarding Mountain Lion, or Mavericks.
Consider upgrading if you have the hardware/software capability to do so.
1. Software compatibility can be checked using RoaringApps.
2. Hardware compatibility can be checked using this ASC Tipsarticle.
