Installing a Crucial M500 SSD Help

Hey guys this is my first post on the Apple forums I've just been using the Crucial forums as of late. My problem comes from my new 240GB Crucial M500 SSD. I recently purchased this when I was advised by a Genius Bar member since my HD failed. I installed it correctly like manyvideos suggest and guides on the web yet I cannot partition the disk in internet recovery. I left it for over an hour partitioning yet no dice. Ive been told this may be a damaged SATA cable/ribbon wgatever you wanna call it. However it could also just be a bad SSD. My Genius Bar assustant gave no notice of a damaged cable although i may have damaged it when installung the SSD which i feel is unlikely since I was quite gentle and did not twist or do anything to hurt the cable. I checked the little pins in it as well and they seemed like they were all ok. Can anyone help me with this? I am using the OS X Internet Recovery if anyone is wondering.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)
