Iphone 4s contacts!!

Id like information on how to edit my contacts on my Iphone 4s in multiples due to the cause that they were quadrupled if not more when i transferred them from my old phone, Verizon says they cant do a thing and to contact apple, if you could please help me id greatly appreciate it !! Thanks.
