No... But it is Crapware that is to be Avoided at all costs.

I have no idea how they can get away with advertising MacKeeper at all.

I even avoid linking to sites that advertise it.

When you post in several threads on the same topic, and did not originate the thread, you can't tell exactly when someone has posted a suggestion to the issue as described. Where I replied to one you'd posted in, a tiny message noted the topic had branched into a new discussion... but I could not follow the link given.

Do you have the mackeeper version prior to 2012 year as described in the uninstall instructions? If so there may also be files in places that would need to be manually removed. A folder in library for mackeeper, for example, esp if mackeeper was installed in a mac with timemachine backup.

But if you have the 2012 or latest version, the uninstall should be fairly straightforward:

What mac operating system version and backups do you have? If this was installed and then saved into a backup, there are things to consider before it will be really all gone. The instructions are extensive enough to fill a few pages, so you have to see them in their context & in their pages online. Do you have a different browser than the one you've had issue with? How about a different user account and set up a Firefox, etc web browser?

IF the other issue still remains in which you said you couldn't get a link to these pages to work... And if you put the item from Applications into Trash, and emptied it, does it go away after you restart the computer? The applehelpwriter page has a pile of places to look for bits of this notorious bugware.

PS: So there is another possible answer. Pretend you have not looked into all the Libraries, etc for the bits suggested in the second page link above.
