Lightning to 30‑pin Adapter (0.2 m)

When I attempt to use my Lightning to 30-pin Adapter (purchased from Apple) with my iPhone 5 I get a message saying the accessory is not supported. I called Apple about this and the phone rep said he'd never heard of the problem. This is, of course, patently untrue...just check the many internet blogs about the same problem. Advice?

Get one that is Apple-certified. I have one that is a 30 pin to lightning and it gives me a warning every time I use it; however, it still works, so I just ignore it.

Then take it back to Apple store ,it may be faulty but also try a reset and if required a restore in case it is a software issue
