How can I make a function counting only cells with text in Bold, in Numbers?

I have a table describing victories at games, for 5 people (columns) on various dates (rows).

In each row, every player's cell is filled with the color he played, his character, or his end-game score. The winner is indicated in Bold text.

At the very bottom row I want to make a cell for each column with a function that only counts cells that contain text in Bold.

Long story short - how do I do that?

Thanks in advance!

Hi DR,

"how do I do that?"

The same way you made the text in those cells bold.

Numbers formulas deal with the content of cells, and ignore the format of that content. If you made the text in those cells bold manually, then that's likely the only way to count only those cells. If you used a conditional formatting rule to make those cells bold, then you migth be able to use the same condition to count the wins by that player.

Take a look at the COUNTIF and COUNTIFS functions for possibilities.

Barry
