Can the OS X Server v3.0.1 update be performed remotely?

I manage an OSX Server remotely, relying on its VPN to connect for basic admin duties. The update description of the update suggests that there is a possibility that after installation and prior to running the server app that its server services are disabled. Does anyone know if I can run this update over a VPN, or does this update in fact disable the server after its install and prior to running the server app again?
