Q: converting apple works files

With Apple Works not available on Maverick what is the best way to convert saved .cwk files to Pages or Word files?  AW files are located in my Time Machine back up on an external Seagate hard drive.  Is there an app that handles this easily or do I have to do each one sepatately?

If they are AppleWorks 6 presentation, word processing or spreadsheet files & if you have iWork '09, then you can open them & resave them in Keynote 5, Pages 4 & Numbers 2. Nothing other than AppleWorks can open AppleWorks database or paint documents. AppleWorks draw documents can be opened by certain versions of EazyDraw with some limitations.

Yvan Koenig has written a number of AppleScripts that can do batch converting. You can find them on his Box.com account. You may have to do some digging around in the folders to find them. I have found AppleScript support to be lacking in Mavericks so it would be best if you could use these scripts in Snow Leopard.

LibreOffice can open AW Paint documents. And I hope in near future that both database and spreadsheets to can be opened in LO.

    Hi Peggy,

Sorry but the Downloads don't seem to work from this Yvan K. site. It only say ”Download Started” but then no more.

So now I went another way: I'm using Libre Office to open & edit old AW docs.

    No conversion needed there!

    with best regards,
