Ipod Shuffle 4th Generation

Hello,

I just received a new 4th generation ipod shuffle for Christmas. I already have ITUNES and an older ipod shuffle. When I plugged in the new ipod shuffle to my computer to get it set up, Itunes would not read it, or indicate the device is found. Thus no syncing, no charging, no nothing. I am not sure if I need to re download a software on my computer for all this to function. I tried trouble shooting and I have all the requirements needed to run the device, yet it is not recognized on my computer/ or in Itunes? Any suggestions. Cheers
