My iphone 4s does not have a ring for incoming calls, it vibrates only. I went to settings have the ringtone set and the volume to max with no results. Help.

Check to make sure that your Silent Switch on the side of the iphone is off.

years ago i made that same mistake...went and asked at the store...i now read up on everything before i show up in person to ask anything lmao

same problem. another user suggested following and it worked:

go to settings/general/accessibility/assistive touch turn on assistive touch. a white dot will appear press it. choose device icon. multiple icons will appear including a bell. make sure that mute is off. for some reason the phone mutes itself and it doesn't show up anywhere else on the phone except on this screen. worked for me

Could also be "Do not disturb" activated in the Settings.

This fixed my problem. Would never have thought of looking in the accessibility settings!

Holy cow. I feel like an idiot. I bought a used iPhone on eBay and spent about an hour searching forums and adjusting the sound settings. Then I read your post and immediately knew that was the culprit! That's what it was! Thanks very much!
