I am also getting this error message and my hosts file does not show this gs.apple.com entry. What should I do?
I am trying to downgrade from 8.4.1 to 8.4

Mar 11, 2016 6:53 AM in response to OmPrakash69by DJMiami,I had the same issue. Turns out it's an error with the Host File because the Version of Itunes I was using was outdated. Checked for updates , installed latest ITunes Version. It cleared error 3194 and was able to successfully restore the company IPAD, which was locked with a passcode from a former employee.
