HP Deskjet 3050 J610 series - new retina Macbook Pro doesn't recognize scanner!

I just bought the 13" retina display Macbook Pro and it's beautiful but I'm having problems with my HP Deskjet 3050 J610 series all in one printer/scanner/copier. The software that comes with the printer doesn't work with 10.9 (which is the version I have). I was able to find a driver online and the printer seems to be working but I can't get the scanner to work. It doesn't show up as a device on Image Capture or Preview. My old Macbook Pro had a "print and scan" utility but I don't see that utility on the new laptop. When I try to scan directly from the printer, I get an error. Does anyone have any insight into how I can make this work? Thank you in advance!

This printer is just really hard to use, it won't let you connect, I found a way to solve this problem, first of all you need to have BONJOUR installed, in your Safari Browser go to Preferences/Advanced and in Bonjour mark both options, then return to Safari and you will find the BONJUR tab just below the explorer bar, after doing that go to your wireless icon and select the printer (it will appear under Devices) make sure that the wireless light in the printer is blinking, this will let you access the internal menu of the printer, after you select the printer go to BONJOUR tab and click it, the printer will appear below, select it, then the printer menu will appear, go to Network/Conection Wizzar and you will be able to conect the printer to your local WIFI, note that the light has to stop blinking from the moment you conect to it. This worked for me after almost 3 days trying to find any tips on how to conect the printer.
