Not much space left

I have a MacBook Pro with 319.73GB and only 10.12GB free. Is that low? How much free space should I have? Thanks for your help!

Yes that is low. I would suggest moving or deleting files until you double it at least.

Hi Allan,

Thank you for your response. Might I ask you for some advice? I have a feeling my MBP is in need of an upgrade and I'm considering purchasing a better processor. The current specs on my MBP are:

2.66 GHz intel Core 2 Duo

4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

I mainly use my MBP for email, word processing, iTunes, watching movies, listening to podcasts, storing photos in iPhoto, and surfing the web. I don't do any type of heavy graphic work or video editing. I'd say I'm a typical user.

I have never purchased an upgraded drive for this computer and would greatly appreciate if you could offer me some direction:

- what processor should I purchase?

- where can I purchase it?

- would I be able to install it?

- is there anything else I should purchase in addition to the processor like more RAM?

Thank you for your help!

Alec

CPUs can not be changed on a MBP. You would have to purchase another one with a faster processer.

For the purposes that you indicate that you are using your MBP, the current one is quite adequate.

My suggestion is to replace the current internal HDD with a 1 TB Seagate hybrid drive. Your boot and shutdown time will decrease dramatically and the current storage issue will be solved. I have one installed in my MBP and am most satisfied with it.

Ciao.
