Is there any hope in recovering the iPhone if the phone is offline (e.g. Battery on 0%)?

Hi

I have recently had my iPhone stolen and used Find My iPhone to track it down. I was able to go straight to the location, get an image of the residential address and report to the Police Station.

Upon return, after having made a statement a police crew accompanied us to the location. By this time the iPhone had already been several minutes "offline" as stated on the screen.

Now I'd like to know if it is possible to locate the iPhone when it is in its "offline" state.
