I just recently received my Apple TV. A loud, buzzing noise is coming through the tv speakers. It doesn't occur when I watch cable. It still buzzed even when the sound is muted. It buzzes during Netflix usage. I'd appreciate your help on such an unusual problem.

I seem to have found a solution! At least, it has stopped the buzzing for the last 2 weeks. The only down side of the fix is it was found on the Netflix support site and not here;) Anyway….
Go to Settings\Audio\Dolby\Select AUTO to enable surround sound. That’s it!

We too are getting a loud clicking/buzzing noise when watching ANY netflix program. This developed within the last week. It has worked fine for nearly 3 monthes. EVERY other AppleTV video content source works fine with appropriate audio. I have tried a different HDMI cable, no change. I have been reduced to watching Netflix thru our PS3😟. Any solutions would be GREATLY appreciated.
This is happening to me too, watching revenge on netflix. So annoying!
had the same problem but seem to have exacted Revenge. I had to set the Dolby Digital to OFF - now working fine
I have the same problem with static on AppleTV. I only use Netflix, Hulu, HBO, and PBS on AppleTV and the problem was only on Netflix. Further testing showed that it only happened on certain programs. So I took the advice of another poster and changed the settings for Dolby Digital from AUTO to OFF and the static went away.
I can imagine that Apple Tech Support wouldn't know about this because the conflict seems to be in the audio tracks of certain Netflix programs. I guess we should tell Netflix, but I don't know what they can do about it.

I tried that but it still occurs in some episodes on only Netflix (so not iTunes Radio or hulu plus...) Weird?

For what it's worth, I haven't experienced the problem in Season 2.
Same problem, Revenge, Season1, E22 had the loud Buzzing Sound. ATV had dolby set to AUTO, I changed it to OFF.
E22 now plays OK.
