How to copy dvd to external harddisk?

Hello

I have like 25 dvds with private videos that I would like to make a backup on on my external harddisk, Lacie (1,23 TB free space)

How is the most easiest way to do it?

I can not see the dvd in finder when playing it? If so it would been easy to just make a copy paste!

In finder I can see the external harddisk plus samsung dvd recorder?

Do anyone know?

Txs alot in advance

You need DVD conversion software, such as Roxio Toast, or (my favorite) RipIt

Insert DVD, but don't play it, just wait for its icon to appear on the desktop, next to your external backup HD icon. (If it auto-starts playing, then stop it.)

Hold down the ALT key and, while holding it down, drag the DVD icon onto the HD icon.

Finder will make a copy of the DVD on the HD, in a new folder on the HD with the same name as the DVD.

If you don't hold down ALT while dragging, it will just make a shortcut.
