do you know how to turn off the function" find my ipad" if the screen doesn't work. Unfortunately, the screen does not work and I wanted to make a copy of my ipad but it gives me a message that I should turn the function first.
If the screen will not respond, there is no way to turn off Find My iPad/iPhone. It cannot be turned off remotely.
In setting go to iCloud then at the bottom it says find my iPad switch it off then it will be turned off

A little difficult to do when the OP can't get a screen display.
Log in to icloud.com on a computer and you can turn it off there.

Only by erasing the device, which is not what the OP wishes to do.
If you remove the device from iCloud (the "Remove from Account" command), that also turns off the Activation Lock.

One of these days, I may actually figure out and understand how the activation lock, Find My iPhone and all this iCloud stuff works. However, I am not holding my breath until that time finally arrives. 😁

Apparently, I need to do a restore of my iPad if I want to be able to have a dated backup. (What good are backups if they are always current - with possible bad data that need to be overridden?). And to do a restore, I need to turn off iCloud.
It's an extremely clumsy and slow process to turn today's backup into a dated backup.
Someone helped me find a much easier way to save backups:

I don't think that this is correct. I was able to remove a troublesome iPad from this setting remotely using iCloud.com.
1. Log in to iCloud.com
2. Go to Find My iPhone
3. Look for all devices
4. Click remove device (or X icon) next to the device in question
I did these actions to remove an iPad and do a factory reset in order to correct an Apple ID issue we were having with my son's iPad. The steps to reset it worked best by clicking "Erase" and basically remote wiping and reinstalling from a recent backup.
